Why our trainers learn breeds by sight
This quiz comes from the breed module of the Scentsible K9 trainer course. Before a trainer meets a dog, we want them to know what that dog's family was built to do. A heeler was bred to nip cattle. A beagle was bred to follow a trail for hours. A golden was bred to carry a bird back without a tooth mark.
That history shows up at home. It is why the heeler nips heels and the beagle goes deaf on walks. Breed is where we start. Then we train the dog in front of us.
Questions
How does the dog breed quiz work?
You get ten dog photos. Pick the breed from four names. After each answer you see what that breed was bred to do and a link to the full breed story.
Where do the photos come from?
Some are dogs we have trained at Scentsible K9. The rest are freely licensed photos from Wikimedia Commons, credited under each photo.
Why does a breed's job matter?
Every breed was bred for a job, and that drive is still in the dog on your couch. A herding dog that has no job may herd the kids. A scent hound may tune you out on walks. Knowing the job tells you what your dog needs.
